Alcia + Julia's Spring Engagement Session in Historic Salem
Sunny Salem in springtime is something else! I’m always so excited to come back and explore this beautiful city which seems to have everything you could ask for - waterfront views, beautiful parks, charming cobblestone streets, and a downtown full of history.
I met Alicia and Julia in the Commons and we walked from there to Goodnight Fatty’s for freshly baked cookies and ice cream. What a perfect start to a session, if you ask me!
Alicia and Julia met their freshman year in college and ended up as roommates sophomore year. They had feelings for each other for a long time before they admitted it. After college was over it was clear that they didn’t want to be apart from one another, and have been together ever since.
Luckily, they had planned to study abroad together before they confessed their feelings to one another, so they got to spend their honeymoon phase traveling around Europe - talk about a dream!
In one short little area of downtown we can find so many different backdrops to work with, and the springtime blooms were just extraordinary. Normally, Salem is quite busy. On this particular afternoon, it felt like we had all of the sweet spots to ourselves!
We ended our session by heading from the Old Town Hall in historic downtown Salem to Derby Wharf. It was a cloudy day but there was still a bit of glow to the sky as the sun set. Looking in one direction, blue hues had already begun to overtake the harbor giving us soft, romantic light to work with. In the opposite direction, the city was ablaze in light, giving us the opportunity to create a fun silhouette and final shot of them walking off into the sunset.
